How Xdately works

1. Create an account

All you need is an email address and a password of at least eight characters. Nothing else. You are in straight away — no waiting for an email, no code to copy out, no phone number.

The email address is there so that you can log in, and so that you can get the account back if you forget your password. It is never shown to anyone else on the site.

2. Tell us who you are

Next comes the display name you want to appear under, your date of birth and a photo of you. It takes a minute, and it is also the whole of our age check: Xdately is for people of 18 and over, and the date of birth is what decides it. Your age is shown on the profile, never the date.

The photo is a requirement, not a suggestion. It is the simplest kind of honesty — everyone here shows who they are, so you are not left wondering who you are writing with. You can add more photos, an introduction and your town whenever you like. All of it can be changed later under My account.

3. Choose who you write to

Under Discover you see which profiles are here and where they live. Browse as much as you like, and open the ones you want to read more about.

You do not have to wait for anyone to notice you first, and nobody has to approve you. Find someone you want to talk to, and write to them there and then.

4. Start writing

You write when you like and to whom you like. The best opening message is something you genuinely wondered about after reading the profile. It beats a bare "hello" every time.

In the chat you can also send photos and gifts. Photos and video can arrive locked — the price is on them, so you see what it costs before you open it. Anything you have unlocked stays unlocked.

5. Paying

Creating an account and looking around is free. You pay only when you send something or open something locked, and you pay with tokens that you buy in bundles. The larger the bundle, the lower the price per token.

If you would rather spend a set amount each month, there is a subscription that gives you tokens every period at a lower price than the bundles. It runs for 30 days and does not renew automatically — if you want to carry on, you buy the next period yourself. No minimum term, nothing taken in the background.

Tokens you have paid for stay until you use them. Tokens you were given on top can have an expiry date, and that is shown in the app.

Your privacy

Your email address is never shown to anyone else on the site. You appear under the display name you chose yourself, and nobody outside Xdately sees what you do here.

If something feels wrong

Report the profile or the message straight from the app. A person reads every report — not a filter — and you hear from us within seven days. You can also block someone from the chat, and then nothing more comes through from there.
